01 / IP – CARE & FAIR goes green

Very few houses in the villages of Inda’s -Carpet Belt- are connected to the power grid. In the evening, many children must do their homework in the glow of kerosene lamps. These lamps give off sooty smoke, stink and can cause bronchitis and eye infections. The CO2 emisssions are cosiderable. If a kerosene lamp tips over, it can set a hut on fire.

The C & F schools have electricity, but most of it comes from noisy generators that smell of diesel. In addition, these generators often fail and thus paralyze lessons – this is fatal, especially with computer courses.

In the future, C & F will light up its students in an environmentally friendly and harmless way: with solar energy. Thanks to the solar systems, the students can now continue to study even in the event of a power failure and, above all, continue to use the computer. In addition, every student gets their own solar lamp to take home with them – so that everyone can do their homework in the dark without endangering themselves and their health.
