Since 2001 CARE & FAIR has provided the mothers and elder sisters of the pupils with an opportunity to acquire basic skills in reading, arithmetic and writing, as well as in hygiene and birth control, in the school, other-wise vacant in the afternoon. Additional courses in sewing and embroi-dery are offered. The women sell the handiwork produced in the courses at local

markets and can thus contribute to the family's livelihood.
