HWWC/Primary Health Center

The Helpless Women Welfare Center was founded under the management of the medical practitioner Sumand Dahal in1993 with the goal of providing work and initial aid in establishing a livelihood for single women, women with children and indigent widows. In a small carpet workshop these women knot carpets which are sold in Germany. The revenues have already

made it possible to help over 100 women. Additionally, the women receive school lessons at no charge. In 1997 with the help of CARE & FAIR, a health center was established where destitute people are treated for acute diseases. Preliminary and follow-up examinations, pre-natal classes, as well as health, hygiene and nutrition courses, and family planning round out the work done here.
