The small village Chaksikhari in the middle of the Indian carpet belt put a plot of land for a new elementary school building at CARE & FAIR’s disposal in 1997. The first phase of construction was completed in September 1998, initially for 140 children. After the entire construction work was completed and

a large children’s playground set up at the end of 1999, enough space was provided for lessons for 430 children.
